SPRINGFIELD, Missouri – Saturday's game at Missouri State wasn't exactly the Golden Eagles' brightest hour at the plate.
ORU couldn't find any glimmer of hope offensively in a 5-0 loss to the Bears in game three of a four-game series.
Missouri State starter Nick Petree threw eight innings, striking out nine and giving up six hits.
Oral Roberts' Jose Trevino actually picked up three hits on the day but none of them came to fruition in the form of a run.
Mike Torrence picked up the loss on the mound for ORU, throwing five innings and giving up two runs.
Neither team scored until the fifth inning, when Missouri State got a two-RBI single from Brock Chaffin.
The Bears added on to it in the bottom of the eighth inning thanks to a couple of errors from the Golden Eagles.
ORU's record on the year falls to an even 9-9 while Missouri State improved to 14-6.
The two teams will meet again on Sunday at 1 p.m. to finish out the series.
