Two men fishing on a sand bar in the Arkansas River near 31st and Riverside had to be rescued Tuesday afternoon.

Tulsa Fire says the two became stranded when water was released from the Keystone Dam, causing the river level to rise.

The men were apparently unaware of how quickly the water level could rise and found themselves in a dangerous situation, according to Tulsa Firefighter Jason Smart.

Tulsa firefighters used an inflatable raft to get the two stranded fishermen, as the water level was too low to use a boat.

There were no injuries.
