A woman delivering newspapers in Tulsa got more than she bargained for from her early morning route.
The woman had just dropped off papers at the Walmart Neighborhood Market at 81st and Sheridan when she saw a man getting out of her car – carrying her handbag.
The woman got into her car and followed the alleged purse thief, bumping his car several times with her own.
The man finally came to a stop in a residential area in the 6400 block of East 54th Street. The woman told police he reached under his car seat and threatened that he had a gun. He never actually produced a gun, police say.
The woman told the suspect that all she wanted was for him to return her purse. Instead, the man took off running with the handbag.
A resident in the neighborhood called Tulsa police who searched the suspect's car. They found a wallet under the seat that they believe belongs to the man. Police theorize that the suspect was reaching under the seat for his wallet when he threatened the woman as if he'd had a gun.
Police continue to investigate.
