Tulsa-Area Couple Welcomes Leap Year Baby

A Tulsa-area couple is leaping for joy at the arrival of their second child, who was welcomed on the rarest day of the year.

Damon Guthery Jr. was born on February 29, 2012 – a week after his mother's due date – making him one of Oklahoma's Leap Year babies.

He entered the world at 1:28 a.m. at Peggy V. Helmerich Women's Health Center at Hillcrest Medical Center, weighing 7 pounds, 4.4 oz and measuring 21-inches long.

Parents Bertjuanette and Damon Guthery said they plan to celebrate little Damon's birthday from February 29-March1 during non-leap years, so he will have a birthday each year.

Damon Jr. has a 2-year-old sister, who is excited about his arrival.
