Final Preps Underway For Tulsa's New Year's Eve Celebrations

You don't have to travel far to find something fun to do for New Year's Eve Saturday night. There are lots of different options in Tulsa.

At the Hyatt Regency Hotel, you won't run out of things to do. The ballrooms will be filled with live bands and lots of dancing.

"We'll also have a Texas Hold 'em Tournament going on, cigar lounge, and a martini lounge. So we'll have a lot of different things going on," Jeff Keeley, General Manager, said.

And with hotel rooms upstairs, there's no need to worry about getting home at the end of the night.

In the Blue Dome District, they're putting the finishes touches on a custom designed ball set to drop at midnight.

"It's being made as we speak and it's a really great piece that represents Tulsa," said Lisa Hardin, "The Party" producer.

The design reflects Oklahoma's own art deco history, oil capital and Native American heritage.

It's part of E2's Worldwide's third New Year's Eve bash that lets revelers celebrate in the streets or inside at a VIP party.

"We kind of have a party in a party," Hardin said.

But if a party isn't your thing can trade your dancing shoes for some running shoes and get a jump start on your new year's resolution with a 5K.

"It starts at 11:45 at night so it allows the runners to run from one year to the next, so it's a unique way to celebrate the holidays," said Race Director Kathy Hoover.

A group called "Friends of Sobriety" is also hosting a New Year's Eve event at the Convention Center. It's free and runs from noon until 2 a.m.
