Expect highs in the lower to mid 60s today across northeastern OK with mostly sunny conditions.  Temperatures will turn colder Sunday and Monday.

What a super great day yesterday!  Temperatures moved into the upper 60s near Tulsa with plenty of sunshine and a nice southwest breeze.

A weak pacific front is moving across the state this morning and will bring a period of early morning clouds followed by mostly sunny conditions.  Highs should be expected in the lower or mid 60s with west to northwest winds in the 10 mph range this afternoon.  Pre-dawn the wind speeds may be slightly stronger.

Saturday the impact of the next system will first be felt with an increase in southwest surface winds and temperatures will move into the upper 60s and lower 70s.  Yesterdays highs in the upper 60s give us some confidence to place a 70 on the map for Saturday.  The fire danger will be elevated tomorrow due to gusty winds, low relative humidity, and the recent drying of the top vegetation layer.

The strong cold front is still on schedule to arrive either late Saturday night or early Sunday morning across the region bringing colder air to the region Sunday, and a re-enforcing shot of colder air will arrive Monday before moderating Tuesday.  The latest model data gives support to an arrival time around 10pm Saturday evening plus or minus an hour or so.  No precipitation is expected but a few clouds will be likely.

The main trough will be encompassing much of the Midwest and the eastern third of the nation Monday and Tuesday before moving out of the region.  This will be followed by another modest warming trend with highs in the upper 50s or lower 60s by next Thursday or Friday.

We continue to watch with interest the developments across the northwestern Yukon region and points northwest.  This is the favored time of year for the arctic air mass to dislodge and move southward into the U.S.

Enjoy the weekend.
