One of Jim Thorpe's sons has come to Oklahoma to visit a place where his father's remains could be relocated.
The family of the man once called the "Greatest Athlete in the World" is in a legal battle with Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania, to get the remains released so he can be buried on Sac and Fox land near Stroud.
His son says because their father told family he wanted to be buried on tribe's land, it's now become their mission.
"Having a place where's he put to rest, like Will Rogers, having him in the state and having dad's body brought back here as well. Being as he's from this part of the country, it would be good for the state of Oklahoma to have him here," Bill Thorpe said.
Bill Thorpe has teamed up with a father and son pair to help bring attention to the relocation battle. They've created a website and online petition you can sign. You can find more information at Jim Thorpe Rest in Peace.
