TULSA, Oklahoma -- The Tulsa Oilers fell behind two goals in the opening minutes of the second period, but managed to score four unanswered goals to drop the Allen Americans 5-3 to close the gap in the Berry Conference.
The Americans jumped out to a quick lead, thanks to two first-period goals and a powerplay goal by Jarret Lukin – his second of the game – to take a 3-1 advantage in the seventh minute of the game.
However, less than two minutes later Dylan Clarke scored his first goal of the night off of an assist from Sean Erickson to cut the deficit to just one goal. The Oilers tied the game just 12 seconds into the third period thanks to a Gary Steffes goal.
Just 36 seconds later, Clarke scored the second of his goals, a powerplay goal thanks to another assist from Erickson, the first of his back-to-back set of goals. The second came more than 10 minutes later, in the 11th minute of the game thanks to an assist from Ryan Cramer.
For the Oilers, Ian Keserich (14-7) is credited with a win for the outing, coming up with 37 saves on 40 shot attempts, while rookie Marco Cousineau (10-4)was credited with a loss missing on five of 35 shots.
The Drillers will take three days off before hitting the road to take on the Rapid City rush at 7:05 p.m. Friday.
