A Tahlequah-based grocery store chain is expanding with word it will be opening a new store in Sand Springs next year.
Reasor's says the new store will be located on the northeast corner of Hwy 97 and 41st street in the former Walmart building.
"We are excited about the prospect of bringing Reasor's to Sand Springs," said Allen Mills, Reasor's president and chief strategy officer and former Prattville resident. "Upon signing the lease for the property, we have started the clock ticking on the due diligence period with engineers, architects and the city of Sand Springs for plans and permitting. The building will require extensive renovations and remodeling. We have 120 days to finalize logistics, and we are eager to get the ball rolling on opening the new store. If all goes as planned, the new store is expected to be open for business by late next summer."
The new store will encompass 65,000 square feet and is expected to create 200 new jobs.
The Sand Springs store announcement follows word in September 2011, that Reasor's will build a new store in Bixby.
When the Bixby and Sand Springs stores open in 2012, Reasor's will have a total of 17 grocery stores.
Reasor's was founded over 48 years ago in Tahlequah.
