TULSA, Oklahoma -- The Golden Hurricane women's basketball team avoided a three-game win streak Saturday with a 61-56 win over the Grambling State Tigers.
Grambling State held an 11-point lead just three minutes into the second half, but Tulsa managed to cut into the lead and overtook the Tigers 41-40 with less than 10 minutes left in the game.
Tiffani Cousinard led the charge in the win for TU (3-5), coming away with a double-double, scoring 10 points and grabbing 14 rebounds, while Taylor Hooks added in 11 boards in the win. As a team, the Golden Hurricane shot just 29 percent from the floor, but still managed to come away with a win.
The Tigers' Tonishea Mack came away with a team-high 11 points, with Mymeka Randle recording 10 rebounds and two blocks in the loss.
Tulsa will be back in action on the road at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday against TCU, before taking a holiday break.
