Fatality Collisions Up In Oklahoma Over Thanksgiving Weekend

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported that there was an increase in fatality collisions over the Thanksgiving weekend compared to the same time last year.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported that there was an increase in fatality collisions over the Thanksgiving weekend compared to the same time last year.

Troopers worked four separate collisions with nine fatalities over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. There were six deadly accidents in 2010.

One of the collisions happened near Checotah on Thanksgiving Day. Two people, 45-year-old Renaud Calixte and a passenger, Taresa Saraguro, were killed when their car slammed into a bridge pylon on Highway 69.

Troopers also made 60 DUI arrests, issued 720 speeding tickets, cited 224 people for seatbelt violations and worked a total of 125 collisions.
