University of Tulsa sophomore Donte Medder has quit the Golden Hurricane basketball squad.
Head basketball coach Doug Wojcik announced Monday that Medder has quit the team and is expected to transfer.
"I am very disappointed that Donte has made the decision to leave our basketball program after only seven games in his attempt to come back following two ACL injuries," said Wojcik. "Despite the progress Donte has made in his return from injury, his playing time has not met his expectations with the two other point guards on our roster."
Medder, who was in his third season at Tulsa, informed Wojcik of his decision Saturday night after TU's loss to Missouri State.
The 6'2" guard from Phoenix, Arizona, played in six games this year and averaged six minutes of playing time.
He received a medical hardship last year after suffering two ACL injuries within a nine-month period. Medder played in 34 games as a true freshman in 2009-10 before suffering his first ACL injury in the second-to-last game of the season.
He suffered his second knee injury in his return to the court against Oklahoma State last December, thus only playing in one game.
