Thousands Of BMX Bicycle Riders Converging On Tulsa's Expo Square

Last year over 3,000 competitors from 15 different countries were in Tulsa for what they are calling the "Greatest Race on Earth" in the BMX community.

The American Bicycle Association BMX Grand National competition returns to Tulsa this holiday weekend with four days of events kicking off Thanksgiving Day.

Last year more than 3,000 competitors from 15 different countries were in Tulsa for what they called the "Greatest Race on Earth" in the BMX community.

The event takes place at QuikTrip Center at Expo Square.

The sport made its official debut in the 2008 Olympic Games and will be featured in next year's Olympics in London.

Thursday, Thanksgiving Day is a practice day with gates opening at 6:15 a.m.

The opening ceremony will be 8 a.m. Friday followed by the President's Cup/Race of Champions at 9a.m. On Saturday, there is the Grand National competition kicking off at 8:30 a.m.

That evening, many of the big names in BMX racing, will appear in the Pro Spectacular which starts at 7 p.m.

Tickets for event can be purchased at the door or at the QuikTrip Center Box Office.
