JACKSON, Mississippi – TU guard Scottie Haralson was playing in front of his hometown crowd, and didn't disappoint.
Haralson hit two free throws with 26 seconds left to seal a victory and help lift Tulsa to a 57-51 win against Jackson State on Tuesday evening.
While Haralson hit his clutch free throws, Jordan Clarkson led the Golden Hurricane in scoring and rebounding with 19 and nine. Kodi Maduka added 13 for Tulsa.
Jackson State actually led throughout most of the first half, including 23-20 at halftime.
But Tulsa caught fire in the second half, shooting 65 percent from the field. The Golden Hurricane scored the first six points of the second half to take a 26-23 lead.
The Tigers wouldn't go down easily, bouncing back to lead again by as many as seven with 11 minutes to play.
Clarkson took matters into his own hands at that point, immediately scoring eight straight to knot the game at 41.
Down the stretch, the Golden Hurricane players hit their free throws and got the job done on defense, holding Jackson State without a field goal for the final 6:56 of the game.
TU (4-2) returns to action on Saturday, traveling to Missouri State to take on the Bears at 7 p.m.
