The Tulsa City Council denied a request from "Occupy Tulsa" protesters for a waiver that would allow them to stay in a city park around the clock.

The vote was 7 to 1. The normal fee is $100.00 day, and the group wants to stay in downtown for 90 days. That's a fee of $9,000 the group doesn't want to pay and it's unwilling to buy the required insurance policy for public events.

In the same meeting, the council waived fees for Friday's Veterans Day Parade. The veterans group has insurance, signed a waiver of liability, and didn't want to stay downtown more than a few hours.
