Wrong-Way Motorcyclist Killed In Washita County Head-On Crash

A man from Porterville, California was killed when his motorcycle was going the wrong way on Interstate 40 in Washita County, and hit another vehicle head-on early Saturday morning, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

This happened at 5:51 a.m. on the eastbound side on I-40, at Mile Marker 47.5 in Washita County.

According to the OHP accident report, a 2001 Kawasaki Motorcycle driven by Anthony S. Tucker, 26, was traveling westbound in the eastbound lane at a high rate of speed for an unknown reason. A 2003 GMC Envoy driven by 24-year-old Dakota R. Buckner, of Elk City, Oklahoma, was traveling eastbound on the eastbound lane. It was then struck by the motorcycle head-on.

Tucker was thrown out of the motorcycle for approximately 150 feet east of the impact. The motorcycle came to rest 373 feet east of the impact before it caught on fire and burnt, according to the report.

Troopers said Tucker was pronounced dead at the scene due to the massive injuries.

The vehicle driven by Buckner came to rest 210 feet east and 64 feet south of the impact after the crash, rolling one time.

Buckner was transported to the Great Plains Regional Medical Center with leg injuries. He was treated and released.

Troopers said the cause of this collision is still under investigation.
