Cool and Windy

The cold air is now firmly across the state with gusty northwest winds around 15 to 30 mph.  A few clouds will hang over eastern Ok for the next few hours, and it's not impossible to see a snow flurry or two across NW Arkansas, but this is a very slim probability.  The clouds will begin clearing in the next 2 hours and the sun will make an appearance allowing for mostly sunny conditions for the day.  The wind speeds will also begin to diminish during the early afternoon period as the pressure gradient relaxes.  This will set the stage for a very cold Friday morning with lows in the lower to mid 30s near Tulsa and some upper 20s along the OK-Kansas state line.

 Friday looks pleasant with afternoon highs in the lower 60s.

 The weekend will feature some slightly warmer air with southeast winds but very windy conditions are likely Saturday as another upper level system draws closer to the region and the surface pressures fall to our west. 

A front will be approaching northern OK Sunday, but the GFS and EURO both stall this boundary just west of the area midday Sunday as the upper level system draws closer to the region.

This will set the stage for increasing low level moisture across the southern plains.  

We're still looking at a significant chance of rain by early next week as the upper air pattern will feature a southwest pattern that will bring a strong disturbance into the southern plains Monday into Tuesday.

All indications point toward increasing low level moisture returning by the time the system begins influencing the area.  The pattern would support a chance of severe weather, but the actual model output parameters are lacking in the severe category for the last few runs.  I think these numbers may come up.  Stay tuned.
