TULSA, Oklahoma -- A 9-year-old Union student is recovering Monday evening after he was hit by a car after school. Police say the boy was walking near Briarglen Elementary when he was scared by some dogs. He took off running and ran out in front of a car.
He's in the hospital with a head injury.
Police say it's a good reminder for drivers about the need to watch out for children, especially as they are trick or treating Monday night.
"It just takes a second for these things to happen," said Officer David Bohrer of the Tulsa Police Department.
"With so many people out there on the roadways and so many kiddos, it just adds to an increased chance of bad things happening."
Police say the best thing you can do to help protect your kids on Halloween or any night, is for them to wear bright colored clothing.
