TULSA, Oklahoma -- The Tulsa Cancer Institute broke ground on its new campus Friday morning.

The new facility, when completed, will total 86,000 square feet, with a footprint roughly the size of a football field.

The new center located on an 18-acre campus at 51st Street and 129th East Avenue will cost $60 million.

The developer is Tollefsen, LLC's subsidiary Formaation, LLC.

"We have truly developed a place for healing," says developer Chuck Tollefsen. "With the planned Leadership Energy and Environmental Design certification, the air inside the facility will be cleaner than the fresh air outside.

"It is refreshing to see architects, doctors, builders, financial institutions, our city government and other civic leaders all working together to help ensure that this community has world leading options for the treatment of cancer."
