TULSA, Oklahoma -- For the second time in the past two months, a former University of Tulsa football player has died.
The latest is Anthony Germany, 25, who died Tuesday evening at an Oklahoma City hospital.
Germany graduated from Putnam City High School and went on to be a defensive back for the TU Golden Hurricane.
The cause of death, according to TU was complications from a pulmonary embolism.
Last month, George Clinkscale, 24, died at a Tulsa hospital after participating in a boxing match at Tulsa's Guts Church.
Clinkscale was a linebacker for the Golden Hurricane.
Statement from Tulsa Head Football Coach Bill Blankenship:
"On Tuesday we suffered another tragic loss in the Tulsa football family with the death of Anthony Germany. Our thoughts and prayers are with Anthony's family and his teammates during this terrible time. After the loss of Wilson (Holloway), George (Clinkscale) and now Anthony within the last eight months, we realize how life is so fragile.
These were three young men in their 20s with bright futures ahead of them, and their lives taken so suddenly. It is heartbreaking."
