TU To Hold Memorial Service For George Clinkscale

The University of Tulsa will hold a memorial service for former player George Clinkscale who died after participating in an unsanctioned boxing match.

TULSA, Oklahoma – The University of Tulsa announced Monday it will hold a memorial service for former linebacker George Clinkscale, who passed away last week.

Former teammates have organized the memorial service that will be held Tuesday Sept. 27 at Noon in the Sharp Chapel on the University of Tulsa campus.

Clinkscale, a linebacker for the Golden Hurricane from 2005-2009, died Sept. 21 after participating in an unsanctioned boxing event held at a church in Tulsa. He was 24.

The George Clinkscale memorial fund has also been set up at the Bank of America and have also set-up a drop-off location at the TU football offices for clothing and baby items for his daughters.

The family will also hold a memorial service for Clinkscale in his home state of Texas on Saturday Oct. 1.

While at Tulsa, Clinkscale was a three-year letterwiner and two year starter. His senior year he started all 12 games and was credited with 34 tackles. He earned his degree in exercise sports science.

Clinkscale leaves behind his fiancée, Courtney (Coco) Thompson, two-year old daughter Ana'hla and his second baby girl is due this month.
