SKIATOOK, Oklahoma -- While AAA Oklahoma says the average price across Oklahoma for a gallon of self-serve regular is $3.34, there are places like Skiatook, where it is now below $3 a gallon.

"When I got here it was 2.99 so I decided after school I should get gas because it's so cheap. I'm pretty excited," said Skiatook resident Emily Cummings.

A check of gas stations in the northern Tulsa County community shows at least one station at $2.96 and the rest of the gas stations showing $2.99 a gallon.

"These lower prices are largely the result of worsening economic conditions worldwide, which are driving down crude oil prices as well as expectations for future demand for oil," said Chuck Mai, spokesman for AAA Oklahoma.

Several stations in Skiatook including the Murphy USA station in front of the Walmart at $2.96 a gallon and the Marveric Mini Mart at $2.99 a gallon.

Gas prices seem to jump higher and much faster than when they come down. But drivers in Skiatook say every penny counts.

"Yeah it'd help a lot of people out. Times are hard right now and everybody would like to get a little help any way they can," said Joe Kidder.

AAA Oklahoma says the average across the Sooner State for a gallon of self-serve is $3.34. Last week's average in Skiatook was $3.32. Last year at this time? $2.48.

In Tulsa and Oklahoma City, the average last week was $3.43, last year $2.57 and $2.59.

If your'e traveling to Oklahoma City, several gas stations there are also below $3 a gallon as well.
