Muskogee Woman Arrested For Adoption Fraud

MUSKOGEE, Oklahoma -- A Muskogee woman was arrested Friday on a complaint of adoption fraud.

Muskogee police say 20-year-old DaVanna Dotson misled couples into thinking they would be able to adopt her children, which she never intended to give up.

A Virginia couple said Dotson had promised them they could adopt her child – but after they handed over hundreds of dollars – Dotson never came through.

Dotson told News On 6 before her arrest that she felt she was wronged by adoption agencies in the past.

"Adoption agencies take advantage of couples, they scam couples out of $50,000 promising a baby and they don't get a baby, so what is $600, $400? I don't understand this," she said.

Dotson is facing five counts of fraud.
