TULSA, Oklahoma -- The driver of a Pontiac told police he swerved to avoid a cat in the middle of the road early Tuesday, causing considerable damage to his car.

The crash happened just before 1:30 a.m. in the westbound lanes of the Sand Springs Expressway near Gilcrease Museum Road.

The driver told Tulsa Police he swerved to avoid hitting the cat, causing him to lose control and hit the cable barrier in the middle of the highway.

The driver was not hurt. No word on the condition of the cat.
