Some quotes from David Boren after the OU board of regents gave him the power to make the decision on the Sooners conference alignment future:
"We are going to make a decision about realignment based on what's best for the Universtiy of Oklahoma".
"Yes, I think the big 12 can survive. This is not a Texas a&A&M situation".
"We want to examine all of our options" not just the Big 12. He said fans need a stable conference, not one where they have to revisit their affiliation every off-season. "Were in a strong position by now".
When asked about his hopes, he said "OU stock is very high right now". He acknowledges that they've had "warm" talks with both the Pac 16 and Big 12.
"Sometimes I yearn for the Big 8 (conference)". He thinks a four-team pod system could work in the Pac-16 and wonders if super conferences are the future of college football.
Boren would not discuss money details surrounding the shared revenue that circles around the Longhorn Network & it's effect on the conference or OU's decision making process.
Rather, he summed up his thoughts with this: "We want to be an equal member of any conference we are in". He even threw in that he regrets Nebraska and Colorado leaving the Big 12 last year.
