TU Men's Basketball Schedule Released

TULSA, Oklahoma -- The University of Tulsa's men's basketball season schedule was released Monday, and the Golden Hurricane will face some challenging opponents during the 2011-12 campaign.

"We are excited about the upcoming season and the challenging schedule with 11 teams that won 20 or more games last year and 12 that participated in a post-season tournament," said Tulsa Head Coach Doug Wocjik. "After two games to begin the season, we face a challenging task of playing away from home six consecutive times. The Charleston Classic, just like last year's 76 Classic, will be a good gauge for our team early in the season."

TU opens the season the weekend of Nov. 11-13 at home against Arkansas-Little Rock. The Hurricane schedule features 11 teams with 20 or more wins and a total of 12 teams that made post-season tournament play a year ago.

Tulsa will face old Missouri Valley Conference rivals Creighton and Wichita State at home and Missouri State on the road, while the Hurricane will also travel to play an old Western Athletic Conference counterpart TCU. The Hurricane will also play Oklahoma State and close out the season at home against Conference USA nemesis Memphis.

The Golden Hurricane closes out the season against two of the league's top teams since the Hurricane joined Conference USA in 2005. Tulsa travels to face the defending regular season champion, UAB Blazers, on Feb. 29th and then closes out the regular season with a home game against Memphis on Saturday, March 3rd. UAB posted an overall 22-9 record and Memphis had a 25-10 mark last year.

Tulsa will play exhibition games against Southwest Baptist University from Bolivar, Missouri, on Sunday, Oct. 30th and against Catawba College from Salisbury, NC, on Saturday, Nov. 5th. Both games will tip-off at 7 pm.
