COLLINSVILLE, Oklahoma -- The Verdigris Valley Cooperative has set a new record for electricity use. The wholesale power supplier set a new summer member load peak of 4,444 megawatts at 6 p.m. August 2, according to coop spokesperson Kimberly Loffer.
Tuesday's record surpassed the previous peak of 4,342 megawatts that had been set the day before.

"Prior to record peaks this summer, the previous summer peak was 4,248 megawatts, set August 15, 2001," Loffer said in a news release.
VVEC serves more than 34,000 meters with 4,671 miles of line across the counties of Tulsa, Nowata, Washington, Osage and Rogers.
