TULSA, Oklahoma – The University of Tulsa football team held its first practice of the season Thursday morning.

First year head coach Bill Blankenship and 105 players kicked off preseason camp at 7 a.m. on Harwell Field.

TU worked out for a couple of hours Thursday in helmets, shorts, jerseys and cleats running through drills and formations.

The temperature was in the mid-80's, a far cry from the 110 degree temps Tulsa has experienced this week.

The Golden Hurricane returns 75 players from last year who join 30 newcomers at this year's camp.

Tulsa will continue practice this week preparing for its season opener Sept. 3 at the University of Oklahoma.

Tune in to Newson6 at 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. for a full report from TU's first day of practice.
