BROKEN ARROW, Oklahoma – It wasn’t Archie Bradley’s sharpest performance, but with of plenty of scouts looking on, the Broken Arrow Tigers were able to escape Lake Hamilton (Ark.) Thursday 4-3.
In the final game of Day 1 at the Tiger-Trojan Classic, the Tigers were looking like they had the game well in hand by the end of the 5th inning. They held a 3-0 lead and Bradley was showing no signs of slowing down. But thanks to couple errors and a wild pitch, by the end of 6th, the Lake Hamilton Wolves had cut the lead to one. They would tie the score at 3 in the top of the 7th.
In the bottom of the 7th, Mak Monckton led off the inning with a single. Zac Mills would follow that with a single of his own. Dylan Delso was the next batter and he moved Monckton to third on a sacrifice fly. Alex Graham then stepped to the plate and hit a grounder that the Wolves’ shortstop couldn’t handle, and Monckton scored on the error to win the game.
Archie Bradley finished the night with a complete game, striking out eleven and walking two. The Tiger-Trojan Classic continues tomorrow when - among other games – the Tigers host Edmond Memorial at 6:30 pm.
