3A No. 7 Henryetta started the playoffs by defeating Eufaula and Holdenville, which put them into the Regional final against No. 13 Tishomingo Saturday night in Antlers. The Lady Indians broke free late to win 57-45.
The Lady Knights took a 5-2 lead early, but Tishomingo went on a 7-0 run to end the first quarter up 9-5. The defensive struggle continued for both teams as Henryetta broke a six minute scoring drought by going on an 8-3 run and the Lady Knights were ahead 19-15 at halftime.
The first half of the third quarter swung like a pendulum as both teams tried to gain an edge, from a 23-all tie the Lady Indians took the game over, leading 34-27 at the end of the third quarter. Henryetta got within eight points a few times, but it wasn’t enough, and Tishomingo sent the Lady Knights into the loser’s bracket with the 57-45 loss.
Sophomore Lauren Flanary scored 16 points for Henryetta, junior Ashton Peters added 14, sophomore Miranda Harjo six, senior Heather Konsure and junior Danielle Bear four each and sophomore Megan Tabor had three points.
For Tishomingo, Brittany Trehs totaled 21 points, Allie Howerton scored 19, Ashley Dunn six, Ashley Kucera five, Cheadle four, and Mariah Gunter finished with two points.
To get to State, the 16-6 Lady Knights have to win three Area games in Wilburton in three days, starting with a 6:30 p.m. contest against Spiro in the Eastern Oklahoma State College gym on Thursday night. The 21-4 Lady Indians have a much easier road to Oklahoma City, they just have to beat No. 8 Morris Friday night in Wilburton at 6:30 p.m., and they’re in.
