VINITA, Oklahoma—It was the perfect evening for a ‘pink out’ Monday as the Vinita Hornets hosted Locust Grove for a pair of games on Valentine’s Day.
The school hosted a ‘Pink-Out’ day in support of breast cancer awareness and the support was overwhelming.
The Booster Club and Shout and Sack Convenience store teamed up to sell 800 t-shirts in a fundraiser to benefit the basketball program and the Craig County Cancer Society.
Students and teachers helped raise awareness by wearing the pink shirts to school that day as well as to the game that night.
The Hornet faithful packed the house on senior night to watch the No. 2 ranked boys and girls teams test their skills against the Locust Grove Pirates.
In the boy’s game, the undefeated Hornets outlasted the No. 5 Pirates winning 65-59.
The Lady Hornets (16-1) demolished Locust Grove 81-40. Coach Scott Reed recently picked up his 300th career win and the win over the Pirates was the team’s 15th straight victory.
