TULSA, Oklahoma – Whether it was underestimation or the fact that head coach Shea Seals wasn’t on the bench, the Booker T Washington Hornets came out slowly at Webster on Friday night. The Hornets needed a big second half to blow out the Warriors 81-58.
Interim coach Marco Harris was on the bench for Booker T on Friday, less than a week after head coach Shea Seals was arrested on suspicion of DUI. The unbeaten Hornets struggled in the first half and Webster wouldn’t go away. Warrior guard Kortney Smith scored the final five points of the first half, and missed a floater at the buzzer, to bring Webster within one point going into the half. The score: Booker T 32, Webster 31.
In the second half, the Hornets played up to their 5A #1 ranking, outscoring the Warriors 49-27 on their way to a big victory. Booker T Washington is now 12-0 on the season and will play at Hale on Tuesday, February 1st. Webster’s next game is at Memorial on January 31st.
