Okemah Panthers Win Okemah Tournament

OKEMAH, Okla. -- Okemah High’s Panther Dome is the site of the Okemah Tournament, and this year’s tournament continued the success of the previous years.
The host 3A No. 1 Okemah Panthers got by the Morris Eagles 47-32 in the first round, Okmulgee’s Bulldogs gave out justice to the Class A No. 16 Weleetka Outlaws 58-51, Henryetta’s Knights annihilated the JV team of OKC Capitol Hill 89-19 and Blanchard beat down the pesky Okemah JV, 53-46.
In consolation play, the Eagles flew over Weleetka 53-40, and Okemah’s JV Panthers got by Capitol Hill’s JV Redskins. Okemah crushed Okmulgee 96-38 to advance to the championship game, while Blanchard’s Lions took down Henryetta in the semifinals for the second year in a row, taking the game by a 54-38 score.
Morris won Saturday afternoon 63-53, Henryetta got third after defeating its neighbors 69-51, and Okemah won the tournament by steamrolling Blanchard 77-38.
In the final tournament standings, Okemah won first place, Blanchard was second, Henryetta third, Okmulgee fourth, Morris fifth, Okemah JV sixth, with Weleetka and Capitol Hill JV bringing up the rear.
