BIXBY, Oklahoma – The Wagoner Bulldogs advanced to the 4A state championship game after eliminating the Catoosa Indians in convincing fashion, 41-10.
Oklahoma Sports player of the year finalist Prince McJunkins had another outstanding game as he made plays with his arm and his legs. The quarterback got the scoring started quickly with a 40-yard touchdown run in the first quarter to give Wagoner a 7-0 lead.
In the second quarter, McJunkins would scramble for another touchdown to extend the lead to 14-0. Then he opened it up with a 56-yard scoring strike to Jordan Robinson to give Wagoner a 21-3 advantage.
The Bulldogs defense gave the Indians fits all night. Catoosa drove into Wagoner territory late in the second quarter, but Jimmy Carter came up with an interception to keep the momentum on the Bulldogs’ side.
Catoosa finishes an outstanding season at 10-3, with two of those losses coming at the hands of the unbeaten Bulldogs. Wagoner (13-0) will face Douglass (11-2) for the 4A gold ball next week.
