TULSA, Oklahoma – Miami played a horrible first half, but rebounded to score 21 points in the final two quarters to top the McLain Titans, 21-0 Thursday night. The win evened the Wardogs’ district record at 2-2.

After struggling on offense for most of the night, the Wardogs finally found a way into the endzone in the third quarter. Senior running back Jordan Hessee bulled his way in for the score from six yards out to finally get Miami on the scoreboard.

Miami scored twice in the fourth quarter. Junior tailback Kyle Jolley sprinted 14 yards for the Wardogs’ second touchdown, and Hessee added his second score of the night late in the quarter.

Miami threatened to score in the first half but came up empty twice. After fumbling a punt deep in it’s own end in the first quarter, the Titans clamped down on defense and forced the Wardogs to missed a short field goal. Later in the half, Miami faced a 3rd-and-11 from the McLain 12-yard line. Demitri Walker out-jumped a Miami receiver and picked off a Sawyer Pooler pass.

McLain was shut out for the first time this season. The Titans had been averaging 21.3 points per game heading into the loss to Miami.

The Wardogs improved to 2-5 this season and got back to .500 in their district. They will host Oologah in Week 7. McLain (2-5/ 0-4) is still winless in district play this season. They will host Vinita next week.
