OKLAHOMA CITY – In what was a close game for much of the night, the Edmond North Huskies pulled away in the fourth quarter for a 36-21 victory over the Del City Eagles Thursday.
Jarion Tudman carried the Huskies’ rushing attack, especially in the second half. Tudman finished with more than 200 rushing yards and three touchdowns, all of which he scored after halftime.
Edmond North (2-2, 1-0) went into halftime up 17-14, but Del City (1-3, 0-1) took the lead in the third quarter on a touchdown pass from Chazten Gonzalez to Greg Johnson.
Tudman responded by breaking a 62-yard touchdown run on the ensuing possession to retake the lead. The Eagles blocked the extra point, making the score 23-21 going into the final frame.
The score stayed the same until there were less than five minutes left in the game, when Tudman broke his second long run. He received a pitch off the left side of the line, juked a defender behind the line of scrimmage and outran the rest of the Del City defense for a 48-yard touchdown and a nine-point lead.
Tudman added his third touchdown of the game minutes later and Edmond North botched the extra point to finish the scoring at 36-21.
Thursday marked the district opener for both teams. Edmond North will move on to face Mustang next Friday, while Del City will have its Homecoming and host Putnam City.
