SKIATOOK, Oklahoma – Bartlesville bounced back from a heart-breaking overtime loss to East Central by routing Skiatook 48-0 at Hap Dunlap Field on Friday night.
The Bruin defense hounded the Bulldogs from the opening kickoff. On the first drive, Bartlesville’s Garrett Hilger forced a fumble on a screen pass and Tucker Collums recovered for the Bruins.
Bartlesville could not capitalize, though, as Calan Crowder was swallowed up by the Skiatook defense on 3rd and goal. Zach Merciez’s field goal attempt was wide left and the Bruins came up empty-handed.
After the Bruin defense forced the Bulldogs to punt, Bartlesville moved the ball down the field with a healthy dose of Jack Wiseman. Bartlesville faced another 3rd and goal on the drive, but Kirby Schoenthaler cashed in on a quarterback sneak and the Bruins led 7-0.
Bartlesville continued to roll from that point and moved to 2-1 on the season. The Bruins travel to Owasso next week, while the Bulldogs (0-3) go for their first win against Booker T. Washington.
