YUKON, Oklahoma – The scoreboard operator at Miller Pride Stadium could be in for a long night when Yukon hosts Mustang Friday. Last year at Mustang, the Broncos outscored the Millers winning 53-47.
Yukon quarterback Corbin Jones torched the Broncos last season for seven touchdowns in his first varsity game, but two interceptions for a touchdown and a kick return for a score helped Mustang rally by the Millers.
Jones enters the showdown with the intent to play as close to perfection as he can.
“I’m just thinking about executing, no mistakes this year.”
The Broncos know they could be in for a long night if they let Jones get into a rhythm on offense.
“The key for us is to get pressure on him. He can’t just stand-up and throw all the time and feel comfortable in the pocket,” Mustang head coach Ty Prestidge said.
If this year’s game starts to resemble the 2009 matchup, the Broncos will be ready.
“The defense is prepared this year more than last year. If they come out firing, we are going to come out shooting too,” Mustang quarterback Brandon Taylor said.
The Broncos have won the last two meeting with the Millers.
Yukon will get one final shot against Mustang at Miller Pride Stadium Friday. The Millers will say goodbye to their current address when they move east a few miles. Yukon’s new high school is expected to be ready by the start of fall 2011.
