OKLAHOMA CITY, Oklahoma -- I’ve got to 2nd Deanos analysis of Oklahoma Sports/Coaches Aid High School Media Day. That was awesome! Over 100 schools, hundreds of players, and an endless supply of optimism as uniforms and flash bulbs and smiles were everywhere. If I wasn’t fired up for the football season before...I sure am now.

From Wampus Cats to Donkeys....from Adair to Yukon....from the East to the West they converged on the Cox Convention Center in downtown Oklahoma City on Saturday. Teams went from photo stations to interview rooms to demonstration booths getting us and you informed about what to expect in the 2010 football season. Believe it or not, we are now less than two weeks away from kickoff.

I had a great time chatting with coaches and players from across the state. But my favorite team had to be Gracemont. This tiny community of just over 300 people just north of Anadarko is playing football this season for the first time. They showed up grinning from ear to ear...and not just the players. Coaches, the principal, moms and dads...heck, maybe even the mayor was there? They said they had their first scrimmage on Friday night and 125 townspeople showed up to watch.

The Gracemont football field is the outfield of the Gracemont baseball field. They couldn’t have been more excited to be walking the gauntlet of press row right next to Carl Albert and Broken Arrow.

Go Gracemont!

Kudos to everyone at Oklahoma Sports and Coaches Aid who pulled off an amazingly successful event. I know it took tons of hours of planning and leg work, but it was worth it. I hope you enjoy all the interviews that you’ll see popping up on your favorite teams pages here on Oklahoma Sports tonight and tomorrow. And check out your rivals interviews as well so you can get a feel for the competition this year.

We’ve made a commitment here at Oklahoma Sports to join with our new brothers at Coaches Aid to give high school football fans never before seen coverage in 2010. This was an awesome way to kick it off!
