OKLAHOMA CITY, Oklahoma -- Kingfisher is known for its consistency and success as a program. Head Coach Jeff Myers, who’s been with the Yellowjackets for six years, attributes his weight training program and a winning mindset.
The team has reached the state championship two times in the last few years, but failed to win the Gold Ball. Last season, Coach Myers’ team battled injuries, losing his starting quarterback in Derek Patterson. He’ll be back, healthy and ready to prove himself.
The team also lost its backup quarterback, Logan Nault, last season to an ankle injury, losing in the state runner-up against Lincoln Christian. Nault, who also plays wide receiver, said he’ll help his team in any way to earn a win.
This year, defensive end Colton Cheap will be returning after suffering a shoulder injury. He had to watch his team play last year, but is hungry to help out his teammates this season.
After being banged up last season, the Kingfisher Yellowjackets will be focused on continuing in their program’s long streak of success.
