TULSA, Oklahoma – Darrell Hall admits it wasn’t easy leaving the comforts of Star Spencer. The coaching veteran arrives at Booker T. Washington after spending the last ten high school football seasons.

“It was a very difficult decision,” he said.

His arrival on campus in March marked a new era at Booker T. Washington.

“He’s a great coach” said senior receiver Tyler Lockett. “He brings a lot of leadership and discipline to the team.”

Hall led Star Spencer to the 4A state title in 2009 and didn’t expect to leave. He said he planned to stay with the Bobcats ‘for the rest of my life”, but is embracing the opportunity to steer Booker T. Washington back to prominence.

“It’s an opportunity,” Hall smile after a Hornets early morning scrimmage. “When you talk about Booker T. Washington football, it’s the top. It’s a challenge to step up to the bigger name program and continue on the path.”

Booker T. Washington opens the season on the road against the defending 5A champion Carl Albert Titans. That game is set for 7:30 p.m. on September 3rd.
