EDMOND, Oklahoma – A new football facility at Deer Creek High School means new hope for the team.
The Antlers posted a 4-6 record and finished fifth in their district last season, but return a quality core of athletes ready to make a playoff run.
Senior quarterback Alex Christensen will anchor the offense with his impressive specs (6-3, 235), but he has a number of weapons on offense to help him out.
Senior running back Colten Sander will lead the rushing attack behind the blocking of offensive lineman Ross Stracke.
On defense, linebacker Isaiah Byrd has been a steady leader for the Antlers for the past couple of seasons. He led the team in tackles as a sophomore and finished second as a junior.
Fellow linebacker Michael Coleman provides a sturdy combination at the position after leading the team in tackles this past year.
Deer Creek’s main concern for the upcoming season will be filling in holes on the offensive and defensive lines, but it has the talent to improve in 2010.
