MIDWEST CITY, Oklahoma -- The scholarship offers haven’t arrived yet, but Trevon Lewis understands that could change with a quick start for the Bombers’ football team.
The defensive end recently returned from a camp at the University of Arkansas. Lewis says he fell in love with the campus and the facilities in Fayetteville.
The Bombers’ defensive leader plans to jump on his first scholarship offer and hinted to Oklahoma Sports that he hopes it’s from the Razorbacks.
“The Arkansas coach told me when they see my first couple of games on film, if it’s good then they are going to offer me,” Lewis said.
Arkansas is not alone in the courtship of Lewis. Oklahoma State, Texas, Missouri and Texas Christian are also high on Lewis’ list of possible schools for next season.
Lewis comes from a strong football family tree. Three of his cousins played at Oklahoma State, while another cousin, Rodney Rideau, played for the Oklahoma Sooners.
The three-year starter plays multiple positions for the Bombers, primarily at defensive end and fullback, and occasionally at tight end. In the college game he is projected to be a linebacker. The move to linebacker should be a smooth one, according to his head football coach at Midwest City.
“He is an athlete, played basketball when he was younger, he wrestled, so a transition like that will be fine for him,” Steve Huff said.
