OKLAHOMA CITY -- The state Board of Education has voted to revoke the teaching certificate of a former Norman North High School teacher and basketball coach convicted last year of a sex crime.
The board voted during a meeting Thursday to take away Vicky Lynn Lewallen's teaching license.
In March 2009, a Cleveland County judge sentenced Lewallen to two years in prison for a sex crime involving a 16-year-old female student. According to state Department of Corrections online records, the 46-year-old Lewallen is being held at a prison in Taft.
In 1997, Lewallen guided Norman High School's girls team to a 28-0 record and the Class 6A state title. The following season, she became Norman North's first girls coach. In 2004, she left coaching but continued as a teacher at Norman North.
