TULSA, Oklahoma – A big second quarter and 40 fouls by Edison propelled Claremore past the Eagles, 83-68. With the victory, the Zebras advance to the 5A state quarterfinals.
Robert Boyles led all scorers with 20 points and Dakota Caudill chipped in 18. Clyde Hill led the Eagles with a 14-point effort.
After Edison jumped out to a 16-14 first quarter lead, Claremore exploded for 22 points in the second quarter and went into halftime with a 36-24 lead.
That lead expanded to 55-31 after a Caudill lay-up with 3:00 left in the third. Edison cut that lead to 59-49 with a Desmond Butler three-pointer just over two minutes later, but foul trouble doomed the Eagles down the stretch. Edison had several players foul out by the time the final buzzer sounded.
