OKLAHOMA – The 5A and 6A state basketball playoffs are set to tip off this weekend with a couple of intriguing matchups on both sides of the state in both the boys’ and girls’ brackets.
Last season, the Putnam City Pirates took home the boy’s 6A gold ball, while the Guthrie Blue Jays claimed their second straight 5A crown.

The Booker T. Washington Lady Hornets pulled off back-to-back titles after winning it all last year in 5A, and the Del City Lady Eagles claimed the top-spot in 6A.

In the next few weeks, expect a lot of close matchups throughout the post season. The Midwest City girls have established themselves as a gold ball front-runner, but the rest of the field is as wide open as ever before.
The playoffs begin with the regional round, Friday February 26th at 6:30 p.m. Winners advance to play Saturday night for the chance to move on to the area round matchups. Those winners will move to the state quarterfinal round. A state champion will be crowned by the second week in March.
