CATOOSA, Oklahoma -- With the help of a 26-2 first half run, Claremore cruised to a 71-54 win over Tahlequah in the championship of the Port City Classic.
Alex Miller led the way in the scoring column for Claremore with 14 points. Dakota Beller and Robert Boyles added 13, and Alex Rounds pitched in 11. Adam Stovall was the lone Tiger to finish in double digits with 14.
After the Tigers took a 4-0 lead in the first period, Claremore finished the quarter on a 12-2 run. The Zebras would carry that momentum into the second quarter and score the first 14 points of the period. Tahlequah would answer with 10 points before the half, but Claremore went into the break with a commanding 33-16 lead.
The Zebras continued to score at will after the break, and finished with 38 in the second half.
Boyles took home the tournament MVP.
