TULSA, Oklahoma – Nobody in the gym thought that the Edison Eagles could come back to top East Central after making just one field goal in the second quarter. Edison figured out a way, storming back to take down the Cardinals on the road Tuesday night, 55-53 in overtime.
The Eagles led by one point after the first quarter and went ice-cold from the field. Nobody could hold on to the basketball. The Cardinals picked off a half-dozen Edison passes and converted points any way they wanted.
East Central got no-look passes from Tony Hall for points. They got fall away jump shots from Cody Colbert. They got twisting layups from Courtney Gaiters and floaters from Larone Fitzgerald. The Cardinals outscored Edison 21-7 in the second quarter and led by 13 at halftime.
The second half was a different story. Edison battled back to tie the game at 47 to force overtime. They held on to the ball in the extra period and beat East Central in dramatic fashion.
Edison hits the road to take on Booker T. Washington on Friday, while East Central hosts the Central Braves. Both games start at 8 p.m.
