OKLAHOMA CITY – The Edmond North Huskies handed Norman North its first loss of the season Wednesday with a 63-52 upset in the first round of the 50th annual McGuinness Classic.
Norman North (8-1) won its first eight games of the season and rose to a No. 7 ranking in Class 6A, while Edmond North (3-5) had won only two games this season and scored more than 60 points only once. The win breaks a three-game losing streak for the Huskies.
The McGuinness Classic is the longest standing tournament in Oklahoma, and Edmond North will now move on to the second round. The Huskies will face Carl Albert, which crushed Norman 64-32 in its first game of the tournament.
