JENKS, Oklahoma – Muskogee and Jenks are two teams riding on different sides of the tracks this season, and Friday night’s game only reinforced that fact. The Trojans pounded the Roughers at home, 58-15, and head into the season finale with a chance to finish undefeated for the first time since 2006.
The Trojans celebrated Senior Night, but a member of next year’s senior class stole the show. Junior quarterback Sawyer Kollmorgen threw three touchdown passes in the first 14 minutes. The Trojans scored first on a perfectly thrown pass from Kollmorgen to Brandon Kitchens in the corner of the endzone for the score. Later in the first quarter, Kollmorgen threw another strike, this time to Jacob Bertelli. Jenks took a 14-0 lead into the second quarter.
Just seconds into the frame, Kollmorgen hooked up with Bertelli again for six more points.
The 43 point win over Muskogee marks the sixth times this season the Trojans have won by three touchdowns or more.
Muskogee’s tough year continues. The Roughers have now dropped to 2-4 in 6A-3. That mark effectively eliminates the Roughers from the playoffs this year. Muskogee will need a series of events to happen in the season’s final Friday to make it to the postseason.
Jenks will finish up the regular season at Sand Springs. Muskogee will host Memorial.
